At the entrance to the GHM factory in Sommevoire is the fettling workshop. Inside, the workers clear the parts stored in the yard of casting residues and projections before sending them to the paint shop. In the background, the high roof of the oldest building in the factory can be seen, where the first blast furnace was built in 1837. Today, castings and aluminium parts are still being cast under its wood and iron roof. The cast iron comes to life in the moulding shop, amidst the gases escaping from the traditional moulds.
