Attached to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Haras National du Pin brings together the three sectors of breeding, horse-riding, and racing. As far as breeding is concerned, it uses modern reproduction techniques (artificial insemination, freezing, embryo transfer) that give excellent results, both in number and in quality. The eighty stallions from the stud stables are dispersed across the countryside during the breeding season (mid-February, early July) and sent to the twenty-three breeding stations to cover mares from different private owners. During the winter, semen from stallions is also harvested and frozen for insemination.
