The mission of the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is to preserve the memory of the sacrifices and exploits of the United States Military where they served in constructing and maintaining American war cemeteries and memorials abroad. The visitor information center of the American military cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer was inaugurated on June 6, 2007 to mark the 63rd anniversary of the Normandy landings. This permanent exhibition also aims to personify the stories of these Americans who fell for the liberation of France: the aim is to make visitors aware that under each grave remains an individual story, with sometimes crossed destinies.
