At the beginning of summer, the flowers of the tobacco plants are cut for the leaves to grow. Each plant has about twenty leaves. The method of cultivation modifies the taste of the tobacco. The leaves used as the wrapper of the cigar are usually shade-grown under greenhouses, they are called “tabaco tapado”. The binder and filler leaves are sun-grown; they are named “tabaco del sol”.
