In Honduras, objects belonging to an unknown civilization are studied by archaeologists. The metates, common in Central America, were important objects in the daily life of the Mayan and non-Mayan civilization. They were used for cooking, to grind cereals or cocoa. Some were used as a seat or as a decorative object.
