Mediterranean-type vegetation

The Mediterranean phytoregion covers approximately 5% of the planet's surface and is home to between 25,000 and 30,000 plant species, or 8% of the world's higher plants. Their rate of endemism of around 44% and their great evolutionary radiation linked to the turbulent geological history and the strong climatic variations of these areas make them a hot spot of global biodiversity, of which the 'Jardin des Méditerranées' offers a glimpse.
