Medieval clothing made on site

The workers of the castle of Guédelon are dressed in tunics and tabards of medieval inspiration woven, spun, and dyed in the workshops of the construction site. The spindle-spun wool comes from the site's sheep, while the mainly vegetable dyes are made from madder, woad, dyers' broom, or elderberry. Weaving looms with a wooden frame equipped with a turnstile tensioning system placed between the two uprights of a fathom were made thanks to the scientific documentation available on the Middle Ages. They make it possible to weave wool but also hemp and linen.
