Mechanization and emergence of different trends

Long complementary to agriculture, woodturning was one of the first activities to be mechanized around 1830 in order to mass produce all kinds of everyday objects such as chair or table legs, bowls, candlesticks... This early mechanization allowed the emergence of different trends, from the classical style of European tradition to anthropomorphism, including an ode to nature and the turning of green wood which, associated with a slow drying, made it possible to avoid the deformations and bursting of the turned pieces.
