On foot, with lines, nets or harpoons, lagoon fishing is an integral part of the Polynesian way of life. Very widely practiced in the archipelagos where the lagoons are used as food suppliers, it requires few means and enables important captures of fish and molluscs. It provides a dietary base or supplement for many families who practice it daily.
