Narrowed meanders and islands

The Seine's meanders narrow between Courcelles-sur-Seine and Vernon in the Eure department. Among the hills of the Norman landscape, the Bessac Islands, Île aux Frêles, and Île au Boeuf divide the river into two arms. Further away appear the Emient, Chouquet, and Madeleine islands. Close to Vernon, the Saint-Just Castle in La Chapelle-Longueville houses gardens that have received the Remarkable Garden label.
