The Monts d'Azur Reserve covers 1,730 acres (700 ha) of meadows, wooded areas, and rocky slopes that provide multiple habitats for the fauna it shelters. The Przewalski horses (Equus ferus przewalskii) harems occupy the lakeside meadow and the more wooded meadow in the west of the reserve. The group of single males, on the other hand, evolves in the higher parts of the territory.
