The humphead wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) is the largest fish in the wrasse family (Labridae). It is recognizable by its dark and massive silhouette surmounted by a prominent frontal hump and ended by a fleshy mouth. Adult it can reach 7.5ft (2.30m) long but its average size is 1.9ft (60cm). It frequents the coral reefs up to 328ft (100m) deep, where it feeds mainly on shelled molluscs and invertebrates but also ingests toxic species such as poisonous sea urchins or starfish and trunk fish.
