State forest massifs

The island of Grande-Terre in New Caledonia has several state forest areas. Among them, the Aoupinié state forest massif is considered to be one of the richest in forest species of the North province, especially in houp (Montrouziera cauliflora) and in tamanou (Calophyllum caledonicum). It covers 6.8sqmi (11.3km2), on the municipalities of Ponérihouen to the east and Poya to the west.
