The Woodland Kingfisher is not strictly dependent on the presence of water. It lives in wooded savannahs as well as on the banks of rivers, lakes or mangroves. It is easily identifiable thanks to its large and bicolor bill. The upper mandible is red or orange and the lower mandible is black.
