Marc Lalique’s Deux Poissons

0
In keeping with the Art Deco style, Marc Lalique created this satin-finish crystal sculpture entitled Deux Poissons (Two Fishes) in 1953. Measuring 28.61 cm high, the sculpture depicts two carp rising from the water in a movement that evokes infinity. The purity of the crystal highlights the fineness of the scales. The figurine respects René Lalique’s taste for fish, such as his car mascot Perche (1926) or his Roscoff cup (1932). The fish, symbol of life, fertility and prosperity, is a recurring theme in the work of René Lalique.
