'Mao mauri', a familiar shark of Polynesia

The Blacktip Shark, called 'Mao mauri' in Tahitian, is the most widespread shark in the Polynesian waters. It is found inside the lagoons, on the outer slopes of the reefs, in the passes of the atolls. It lives in groups of a dozen individuals of males and females, unlike the Gray Sharks whose females are more visible than the males.
