Handling molten iron

Casting is the operation that consists in extracting the molten metal from the melting apparatus and in introducing it into the molds. It requires constant focus and significant know-how. Cast irons are alloys. At GHM, they differ from other alloys by their excellent flowability. Cast iron has a melting temperature ranging from 2 075° F to 2 553° F (1,135 ° C to 1,400 ° C), essentially depending on the percentage of carbon and silicon it contains. When it is molten, its maximum carbon content can reach 6,7 %. The GHM factory also produces work made from cast aluminum and bronze alloys.
