The mangrove is a doubly vulnerable environment : on the sea side, it is subject to strong natural pressures from the elements (storm, cyclone, tsunami) ; on the land side, it is threatened by human activities (deforestation, backfilling, illegal dumps, pollution, mining, aquaculture) and sacrificed to the development of urban areas. Hence the need to implement rehabilitation and plantation programs of this ecosystem essential to maintaining the balance between sea and land.
