An integral reserve of the Port-Cros National Park, the island of Bagaud was assigned to the Coastal Protection Agency by the Ministry of Defense in 2008. This French public establishment, created in 1975, aims to acquire coastal plots threatened by urbanization or degraded to preserve or restore them while respecting natural balances. Acquisitions are based on a state endowment supplemented by public and private supports. Based on partnership, the management of the acquired sites is entrusted to the regions, departments, municipalities and federations of municipalities, mixed unions, or associations.
