Mallard Ducks, omnivorous and gregarious
0
0
The mallard Duck is omnivorous and opportunistic. It grazes leaves and shoots like geese, filters seeds and invertebrates on the surface of waters, and captures insects. The species is gregarious for most of the year. Groups to a few thousand birds are spotted in winter on the most favorable large ponds. From February, the pairs isolate themselves to explore nesting sites. The mallard Duck usually broods its eggs on the ground starting February or March.
