Preserved despite wars and centuries

Riquewihr is one of the most renowned villages in the Alsace. It is home to numerous half-timbered houses from the 16th century. Almost intact ramparts surround this medieval town. Riquewihr's heritage, from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, has remained preserved despite medieval clashes, the Thirty Years' War, and two world conflicts. The village still has its Dolder watchtower, the prison, or the Tower of Thieves. Its cobbled streets and architecture make Riquewihr a bridge between centuries.
