The male and female warthog has tusks from continuously growing canines. They can reach 23 inches (60cm) and serve to dig roots and bulbs and to defend themselves. The male also has, on each side of the head, callous growths formed of bones connected to the nostrils and covered with skin to fight. He lives alone.
