Perched house of the Alpana

0
The Osprey, also called the Alpana, lives near ponds, rivers or by the sea, where it can easily feed. In Corsica, breeding pairs are located in the cliffs and islets of Scandola. For 2 to 3 weeks, the male builds a nest of 1 to 1.5 m ( 39 to 59 in) in diameter with dead branches, on a site with a wide visual field. Everyday, it performs a courtship ritual close to the nest to attract a female. It then offers the female a fish so that it stays and it agrees to mate.
