In 1975, the Charles-Léopold Meyer Foundation for the Progress of Man acquired the Domaine de Villarceaux at auction. In 1989, it entrusted the management of Villarceaux to the Ile-de-France Regional Council. Since then, the regional agency for green spaces has been responsible for the maintenance and protection of the park. It has restored the 16th century ‘parterre sur l’eau’, with its boxwood labyrinths, one of the rare examples preserved in France. The restoration of the green waterfall of the vertugadin is also the result of its constant attention. The agency is committed to offering Ile-de-France residents an intact historical plant heritage.
