Made of chalk stones

From the base of the Dôme des Invalides, the view of the roofs of Paris is breathtaking. A succession of stairs and stone beams allow you to walk on the lead roofs. During the construction of the Dome, the materials, notably the chalk stone, were unloaded in a port specially built on the Seine at the level of what would be the future Alexandre-III bridge. It is under this Dome that took place on July 15, 1804, the 1st ceremony of the remittance of the Legion of Honor to deserving officers.
