Louis de Mornay (1619-1691), Marquis of Villarceaux, was Captain-Lieutenant of the Light Horses of Monseigneur le Dauphin, future Louis XIV. He maintained a love affair with the courtesan Ninon de Lenclos, friend with Françoise d'Aubigné (future Madame de Maintenon, favorite and wife of Louis XIV), whom she met at age 16. We will never know if she heeded the siren song of the Marquis, but he painted a nude depicting her in Diana. The painting has been hanging in the dining room of the castle of Villarceaux for 250 years.
