Lumio's belfry

With its 36 meters (118 feet) high, the bell tower of the church Santa Maria overlooks the Balagne. This square tower houses the bells that call to prayer the faithful of the village of Lumio and the surrounding area. As for most Baroque Corsican churches, the bell tower is separated from the church. It was erected in 1878 while the construction of the main building was completed in 1825.
