Aware of the threat of extinction which weighs on the Kuhl's Lorikeet (ura), the population of Rimatara has created the Rima'ura association to protect its terrestrial natural heritage. This local conservation association appeared in 2014 and was renewed in 2016. It notably takes care of Whisky, one of the first 'biosecurity' dogs of French Polynesia.
