The ochres of the Pays d'Apt are a listed site classified by the DREAL (Regional Directorate for the Environment, Development, and Housing) under the 1930 Law on Natural Monuments. They mix with the Calanques, the Sainte-Victoire, the Gorges du Verdon, the Clarée valley, or the Estérel massif in the South Region, which has 216 classified sites and 358 registered sites. Since March 7, 2017, the Provençal Colorado is also a geopartner geosite of the UNESCO Global Geopark.
