Lionfish in Honduras
Pterois species are significant invasive species in the western Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. Commonly known as lionfish, these venomous marine fish have no predators. They take their name from their sumptuous, striped mane which is also dangerous: it contains long poisonous spines whose the bite can be fatal. It is therefore necessary to be very careful when diving alongside them.
