Saint-Michel Chapel is closely linked to the history of the Saint-Michel-de-la-Cluse priory located in the hamlet of Couches that dominates the Durance valley on its right bank between Chorges and Prunières. Built on a small hill in the Durance valley, the chapel was until 1960 a place of pilgrimage close to the former road of the Durance and the railway line.
