After the invention of the Fresnel lens at the beginning of the 19th century, used to increase the lighting power of lighthouses, five lighthouses were built on the Corsican coastlines: the lighthouse of the Sanguinaires Islands to the southwest, the lighthouses of Pertusato and Chiappa to the south, the lighthouse of La Revellata to the west (on the shot) and the lighthouse of Giraglia to the north.
