Lifou Island stretches as far as the eye can see, uniformly low and flat. It is covered over very large areas by a lowland forest of Aglaia eleagnoides, Cupaniopsis glomeriflora, Schefflera golip and Delarbrea collina growing on limestone. It is a fairly high and dense forest with an undergrowth of ferns from which some barely visible constructions emerge punctually.
