The history of the Notre-Dame des Baous chapel of Saint-Jeannet is linked to mountaineers as evidenced by its ex-voto but also to farmers. At the start of the 20th century, the faithful used to go there in procession for the Assumption, a Catholic religious holiday celebrating the abduction of the Virgin Mary into heaven on August 15. Notre-Dame des Baous Chapel also used to welcome the Rogations, which took place on the three days immediately preceding Ascension Thursday, 37, 38, and 39 days after Easter. They took the form of public prayers aiming to secure divine protection over the crops and field works.
