Located 5.5 miles (9 km) north of Apt by the departmental road, the village of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt seduced the painter Paul Guigou (1834-1871). Born in Villars in the Vaucluse department, he excelled at rendering the luminous force of the landscapes of Provence. Highly popular in the United States and England, he is the most famous Provençal landscape designer worldwide. In 1867, Guigou painted a View of Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt today on display at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
