Simon Sabran, the ancestor of the current owners of Brégançon Castle, acquired the estate located in Bormes-les-Mimosas in 1816. On his death, his heirs sold it in 1837 to the Marseille ship-owner couple Adolphe Auguste Chappon and Georgine Barronet, that fate placed on the professional path of Hermann Sabran, a lawyer at the court of Lyon and the grandson of Simon Sabran. While looking after the interests of Adolphe Auguste Chappon, Hermann Sabran met Hélène Chappon, the shipowner's daughter, and married her in 1869. She then inherited the domain of Brégançon in 1880 and, through this alliance, allowed its return to the Sabran family.
