La cabeza tiene la cara amarillenta más o menos oscura. Los ojos son grisáceos. El tórax es castaño o negruzco. Las alas son hialinas con una mancha negra en la base. En el ala anterior la mancha basal está muy reducida en forma de trazo, en el ala posterior es muy nítida pero bastante reducida. Las hembras generalmente presentan las alas teñidas de naraja amarillento en el margen anterior de cada ala y el extremo del ala presenta una pequeña marca marrón. El pterostigma es de color pardo.
Distribución de Libellula fulva:
Europa y Próximo Oriente. Un poco menos nórdica que la precedente.
En la Península Ibérica es muy rara.
