L’Homme de fer - Strasbourg

En 1740, l’actuel numéro 2 de la place de l’Homme de Fer est habité par un arquebusier du nom de François Hilbert. Il décide de mettre pour enseigne de son armurerie une statue grandeur nature d’un sergent de patrouille municipale en armure (de la fin du XVIème siècle).
La place pris ensuite le nom de Place de l’Homme de fer.
La statue actuelle est une copie (installée en 1870).
L’originale est visible au Musée Historique de Strasbourg
