From the end of the Middle Ages to the 19th century, woodturning was essential to the production of style furniture, the impact of which declined sharply from the 20th century, forcing the turners to diversify. At the same time, the hydraulic and then electrical energies have made it possible to increase the rotational speeds of the lathes and to significantly improve the quality of the pieces. Workshops bringing together dozens of turning workers using increasingly sophisticated machines have sprung up. Robert Marichy, for his part, has continued to perpetuate the traditional know-how inherited from his father and grandfather.
