The port of Le Havre faced several transformations during the 1960s. The arrival of containers revolutionized the transport conditions, and hefting of goods and energy traffic were also subject to change. As a result, a maritime channel was inaugurated, container traffic increased considerably, and several terminals were built until 1995. At the end of the century, the port's road service was also improved via a freeway connection.
