The day is breaking in the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park, in an absolute tranquility reinforced by the heavy snowpack. In the heart of the Jura massif, this medium mountain territory of 178,000 hectares is located for two thirds of its surface area above 2,624 feet (800 meters) of altitude. Its mountain climate, its low population density (44 inhabitants / km2), its not very intensive cultivation techniques and the maintenance of large forest zones have endowed it with rich natural refuge areas for a remarkable biodiversity.
