The Leucate pool is part of the Salses-Leucate lagoon. It is about 8.7 miles (14 km) long and is north of the French city of Perpignan. The pond is characterized by a shallow depth and brackish waters, making it a particularly appropriate environment for fishing and shellfish farming. In addition, numerous nautical activities, as well as fishery production and agriculture, take place in this protected location.
