The layering of vegetation in the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park
The Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park stretches from the alluvial plains to the highest peaks of the high Jura range, that is to say the Crêt de la Neige at an altitude of 5,643 feet (1,720 m). It therefore presents the entire layering of vegetation, from the forests of alders, willows and ash trees in the lower valley of the Bienne to the pine stations on the peaks. The high altitude zones are dominated by wooded areas of spruce trees (photo) which host many leisure activities such as hiking in summer or Nordic skiing and dog sledding in winter.
