The middle Vosges are included in a territory located between the Val de Villé and the Col de Saverne. They are geologically assimilated to the crystalline Vosges. Their highest point is the Champ du Feu (3 605 ft / 1099 m). From the top of the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, 2,483 ft above sea level (757 m), it is possible to observe the famous Vosges peaks called balloons. This term applies to five summits : the Grand-Ballon, the Petit-Ballon, the Ballon d'Alsace, the Ballon de Servance and the Ballon Saint-Antoine. On a clear day, one can also see the Alps from the Haut-Koenigsbourg.
