Three bell towers stand out above the roofs of the old town of Menton. The farthest right is that of the Immaculée-Conception Chapel, built on private land in the 17th century. In the center rises the campanile, or Campanin in Menton dialect, added at the beginning of the 18th century to the Baroque-style basilica of Saint-Michel. Its four bells echo that of the Clock Tower standing on the left. This old structure from 1656 was the bell tower of the first church dedicated to Saint Michael.
