The three chapels of Gorbio
0
0
The Romanesque chapel dedicated to Saint Lazarus in Gorbio, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, is one of the village's three chapels. Like the Chapel of the White Penitents with its Baroque plasterwork decor and Saint-Roch Chapel, where people prayed against the plague, it contributes to the village's religious heritage. Saint-Lazarus Chapel also participates in celebrating Gorbio's traditions and legends. In memory of the leper who supposedly died on its location, the inhabitants make a pilgrimage to the chapel every year on July 2.
