The statues of Saint-Martin
0
0
Built between 1240 and 1365, the collegiate church of Saint-Martin in Colmar is a major work of Gothic architecture in Alsace. The statues that adorned the building are now on display at the Unterlinden Museum, in a room specially dedicated to the collegiate church. They show the influence of the sculptors who also worked on the construction site of the cathedral in Freiburg im Breisgau (Baden-Württemberg). The statues depict saints, an archbishop and a prophet in the centre. The draperies are well rendered, but the faces are not very expressive.
