The surfing spots of Leucate

The popular spot of La Franqui beach, near Leucate, is 38 minutes from Narbonne and Perpignan. The town of Leucate is home to many other surfing locations such as La Mine, Parc à Huitres and La Marina. The prevailing wind on the La Franqui site is the tramontana (north wind). It is ideal for freestyle enthusiasts because being parallel to the beach, it forms a large chop. Even though the temperatures in February and March are quite cool, sailing on Leucate's surfing spots is possible all year round.
