The 0,27 sq. miles (70 hectares) American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer is one of fourteen American World War II European cemeteries, established by the American Battle Monuments Commission. At the Eastern end of the cemetery, the semi-circular Memorial is completed by a Garden of the Missing, with its lawns edged by flowerbeds of polyantha roses (Rosa multiflora), American elms (Ulmus americana) and Leyland cypress (Cupressus ×leylandii).
