In captivity at the Pretoria National Zoo, Temba mothered several cubs and died in 1986. Tombi had a white cub in 1981 which did not survive. Descendants of Temba live in captivity in zoos and reserves around the world. Some other white or blond lions were born in Timbavati after Temba and Tombi. A female lived for several years before being killed in territory fight in 1993.
